Signs Labor Is Beginning
Early Signs
- Mucus plug passes (may be clear, pink, or slightly bloody)

- Consistent lower back pain or cramping
- Feeling of pressure in the pelvis or lower abdomen
When to Call Your Provider
- Your water breaks
- Contractions are 5 minutes apart, lasting 1 minute, for 1 hour (5-1-1 rule)
- Bleeding (beyond light spotting)
- Decreased fetal movement
- Any concerning symptoms or if you’re unsure
