Signs Labor Is Beginning

Early Signs

  • Feeling of pressure in the pelvis or lower abdomen

When to Call Your Provider

  • Your water breaks
  • Contractions are 5 minutes apart, lasting 1 minute, for 1 hour (5-1-1 rule)
  • Bleeding (beyond light spotting)
  • Decreased fetal movement
  • Any concerning symptoms or if you’re unsure
